About Nokia

Global leader in the technologies that connect people and things.

There is a new revolution in connectivity and digitization in which everyone, everything, everywhere is connecting, Nokia calls it as Programmable World. The company perceives it as an opportunity to positively impact the way people live and work each day—to make the world more productive, efficient, safe, healthy, smart, and sustainable. Nokia enables a new type of network that is versatile, intelligent, and reliable in order to meet the huge demand on network performance and access; to simplify, optimize, and automate the complex flow of data across the network; and to transform the way networks, data, and technology not only connect us, but intelligently work to enrich our lives.

Powered by the innovation of Nokia Technologies and the eight Nobel Prize winning Bell Labs, Nokia is at the forefront of creating and licensing the technologies that are increasingly at the heart of our connected lives. With state-of-the-art software, hardware and services for any type of network, the company is uniquely positioned to help communication service providers, governments, and large enterprises deliver on the promise of 5G, the Cloud and the Internet of Things.

Nokia in Hungary

The subsidiary with over 1900 employees operates one of the largest R&D center of Hungary and also serves local and regional customers. In the last couple of years Nokia strengthened its presence by a service center providing financial, procurement, human resources and marketing support to over 107 countries worldwide.

Nokia has a Global Technology Center in Budapest where more than 1400 Hungarian engineers develop wide range of technologies, from traditional ones like MSS, TAS and Subscriber Data Management to Cloud Virtualization, Big Data Analytics, predictive marketing, and even Voice Over LTE. In research field the team works with full capacity on 5G projects.

Cooperation with the local ecosystem has been recognized as pivotal for over twenty years. Nokia built comprehensive partnerships in key areas. Nowadays Nokia is one of the main supporters of engineers in Hungary through its strategic partnerships with 13 higher education institutions, its professional internship program (with more than 1000 trainees in the last ten years), and its academic research and development projects. While Nokia would like generations of engineers to have a high quality and up-to-date knowledge, the necessity of promoting ICT-studies among young Hungarian ladies is also admitted. So the company decided to support Skool, an independent non-profit initiative, whose mission is to convey useful and usable technology skills to girls and young women in a new educational form.

In 2016 Nokia has received the Business Superbrand certification while in the previous year the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, together with the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency, handed over the Award of Company of the Year 2014 for R&D Investment. Nokia won the Intelligent Company Award and Excellent Hungarian Content on eFestival in 2015. In the recent years Eötvös Loránd University, Faculty of Informatics; Szent Istvan University, Career Office; Scientific Association for Infocommunications and IAESTE has recognized Nokia as Employer of Choice.
